Is it bad to remove blackheads by squeezing your pores?

I sometimes squeeze them with a handkerchief to prevent nail marks or peeling off my skin. Is this bad? Would it leave permanent marks on my face? What are some better ways of removing blackheads and preventing them from reappearing? Is it bad to remove blackheads by squeezing your pores?
If you do it right, it should not make your skin condition worse or cause more acne and blackheads (it can make the sebum go ';inward'; and cause an infection) or even permenant scarring. You can try one of those Blackhead Removers (a metal stick with loops on both ends), but it doesn't always work either. I squeeze my blackheads sometimes, too, but I would not recommend doing it on a regular basis. Here's what I do in my facial care routine:

1. Wash with a gentle, water-soluble facial cleanser, such as Neutrogena's Gentle Cleanser, daily.

2. Exfoliate 2-3 times a week with either a mechanical (which has ';microbeads';) or chemical (either Salicylic Acid, which is BHA, or an 8% Glycolic Acid, which is AHA). For acne control, BHA is more effective.

3. Once a week, steam your face: boil a pot of water, place your face at a comfortable distance away from the hot water and put a towel over your head. Steam your face for 10-15 minutes. This will help bring all the blackheads %26amp; whiteheads out on to the skin's surface. Once they're on the surface, your blackheads will actually look more like little ';white bumps'; on your face.

4. After steaming your face, apply a clay mask to help further squeeze those blackheads and whiteheads out on to the skin's surface. Spread the clay all over your face, avoiding the eyes and mouth areas. Wait 10 minutes and then rinse off.

5. After you rinse off the clay mask, while the face is still wet, apply Biore Strips on your T-zone. Be careful not to make so much facial expressions (avoid talking, smiling, or frowning) while you're waiting for the Biore Strips to dry. When the Strips dry, slowly peel them off. You'll see little ';holes'; in your pores as the Strips picked up the blackheads %26amp; whiteheads. You'll also feel a ';ticklish'; type of tingling sensation after the Strip ';emptied'; the pores.

6. Whatever the Biore Strips cannot pick up, then you can use either the Blackhead Remover or CLEAN tissues to squeeze the remaining ';heads'; out: use a tissue over each finger to keep you from slipping and tearing the skin, apply even, soft pressure to the sides of the blemish area, gently pressing down and then up around the lesion. Do this once or twice only. If nothing happens, that means the blemish cannot be removed, and continuing will bruise the skin, risk making the infection or blackhead worse, and cause scarring. It is much easier to squeeze them AFTER you have steamed your face, applied the clay mask and Biore Strips, because the blackheads/whiteheads are all brought to the surface.

However, I rarely squeeze my blackheads and have never squeeze any pimples, for fear of permenant scarring. So I would recommend maintaining with the gentle facial cleanser, exfoliant to clear the clogged dead skin cells and a weekly at-home facial. Is it bad to remove blackheads by squeezing your pores?
It acutely can push the oil and dirt deeper into the pore and cause more acne. So I suggest to not do it. To help get rid of then don't use think or greasy creams or moisturizer unless you really need it. As always don't use a bar of soap to clean and use gentle cleansers and toners. If your skins oily then use a clay mask that's gentle to the skin to help with the daily oil problems. Blackheads are more of a genetic thing that you can't get really get rid of. But when you do squeeze then do it gently cause when you see marks being left then that's very damaging to the skin and especially doing it with your nails. To help make the blackheads to come out easier get your face wet with luke warm water or even steam it [not recommended because the heat can cause spider veins to surface and create irritation] and that should help =]
yes it will make them appear worse.

These natural remedies for eliminating blackheads comes at no or negligible cost, purity, without side effects and dollops of TLC.
Thats perfectly fine. Just remember that blackhead removal takes time. Removing too many at once inflames the skin and leads to infections. That is what causes scarring. As long as you clean your pores when you're done you shouldn't have a problem. You can also purchase a blackhead remover in almost any store. It's basically a long stick with a flat small surface at the end with a hole in it. The surface pushes the skin down around the blackhead making it ease out of the pore without damaging skin.
